SPONSOR LUNCH FOR THE GROUP DURING ONE OF THEIR PROJECTS
The youth leadership group is made up of students selected by teachers and coaches to serve on the Principal’s Advisory Council (PAC). After participating in our program and presenting their capstone project, they are eligible to receive the scholarship.
Youth Leadership Ravenna, a program of the Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce, gives local high school students a behind-the-scenes look at how our city runs. They tour City Hall, the police and fire departments, and Ravenna’s historic sites, learn what leadership and civic responsibility really mean, and roll up their sleeves volunteering right here in town.
The highlight of the program is the Capstone project. Each student presents an idea to improve Ravenna to community leaders, and it has to be something they’d lead themselves. Not “someone should fix this,” but “here’s what I’ll do.”
Students who complete the program earn a $500 Chamber scholarship.
The Ravenna Youth Leadership Program has the following projects scheduled:
- October 27 – RHS builds scarecrows and introduction to the program
- November 24 – Visit to the Center of Hope, tour with Q&A and lunch
- January 26 – Visit to City Hall, Fire Department and Police Department for tours, Q&A and lunch
- February 23 – Visit to Portage Juvenile Court (and possibly jail) for tours, Q&A and lunch
- March 23 – Visit the Children’s Advocacy Center at UH for a tour, Q&A and lunch
- April 27 – Capstone presentation at City Hall

WANT TO HELP? We’re looking for a couple of local businesses or community members to “Buy the Group Lunch” with a $100 sponsorship on days the students are out touring, volunteering, and working in the community. It’s an easy way to fuel Ravenna’s future leaders, and your support will be recognized.
