Too often, we measure our progress by the big moments: a new company, a ribbon cutting, or a major investment. Those milestones matter, but they are the result of something deeper. Lasting growth begins when people choose to explore downtown, discover local businesses, and build relationships that strengthen the community. Those everyday decisions create the momentum that attracts even greater investment and transforms a community.
That philosophy shaped one of our most successful initiatives this summer: the “Only in Ravenna” Scavenger Hunt. On the surface, it was a fun community event. Behind it was a simple marketing idea: people are more likely to support local businesses once they’ve experienced them. Every stop introduced participants to one of our downtown businesses, and the feedback confirmed what we hoped. Business owners told us they welcomed new customers, increased foot traffic, and made connections that extended well beyond the event itself.
As we move into the second half of the year, we’ll continue building on that momentum while turning our attention to the holiday season, one of the most important times of the year for our downtown businesses. Our focus remains the same: creating opportunities that bring people together, strengthen local businesses, and continue building a vibrant downtown.
The future of Ravenna won’t be shaped by one transformational project. It will be shaped by thousands of individuals deciding to shop locally, invest locally, support one another, and work together to create opportunities. That’s the momentum we are creating and the future we’re working to build every day.
