Ravenna Scarecrow Contest
The Ravenna Scarecrow Contest is back this year, and scarecrows will be on public display from October 2nd to October 31st. Contest Rules are shown below, or you may download the participation/contest entry form and rules.
Contest Rules: Contest is open to individuals, businesses, /organizations, and schools. Scarecrows may be made from any material that the contestant chooses but must use a T -frame PVC pipe kit purchased from It’s All Fine (6560 N Chestnut St. Ravenna). You may use a kit previously purchased and may keep your kit to reuse in future years. Please keep in mind: the scarecrow will be displayed outdoors during the contest and should be designed to withstand the autumn weather. Contestants shall provide the materials necessary to build the scarecrow. All scarecrows shall be appropriate for public viewing: no adult, political or excessively gory themes allowed. All scarecrows should be in good taste, any scarecrow deemed distasteful or against these rules will not be accepted into the contest and/or will be removed from viewing. Contestants must provide any materials needed to display the scarecrow.
Drop Off: all scarecrows need to be dropped off with a completed and signed entry form by September 27, 2023. Drop off is M-F 9a-2p at 126 E. Main St Ravenna (enter in rear).
Display: Please be aware your scarecrow will be on public display from October 2nd -October 31st. The Ravenna Chamber and Leeda Northeast are not responsible for any damage done to the scarecrow by the public or by any acts of nature. Please keep an eye on your scarecrow and make sure it is maintained throughout the period of the contest.
Voting: Public voting will begin following the setup (October 2nd) and will continue until the October 26th. Voting will take place online and winners will be announced during Portage DD’s Trunk or treat and on Facebook (Portage DD and Ravenna Chamber) on October 27th. Winners do not need to be present to win.
Pick up: If you wish to keep your scarecrow or any item attached to it you must pick up your scarecrow from its location in the community between November 1 and November 5th. On November 6, 2023, any scarecrows still located in their spots in the community will become the property of the Ravenna Chamber and or Leeda Northeast.
