Human Trafficking 101, presented by Mary Kate Waggoner, Education & Outreach Committee Co-Chair
at The Summit County Collaborative Against Human Trafficking, and Megan Vermillion, Education and
Outreach Advocate at the Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center.
Did you know that over 1500 human trafficking survivors were identified in Summit County last year
alone? Did you know some of them may be your customers or employees? Join us as we dive further into
this topic with The Summit County Collaborative Against Human Trafficking!
Mary Kate is a graduate of the University of Akron, with a bachelor’s degree in social work, and a graduate
degree currently in progress! She is passionate about working with survivors of human trafficking, abuse,
and trauma. She currently works as the Coordinator for the Summit County Human Trafficking Task Force
(SCHTTF), overseeing task force sting operations and victim advocacy services through RAHAB Ministries.
Megan is a two time graduate from The University of Akron with a Bachelors in Social Work and a Master’s
in Higher Education Administration. Megan works for Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center (Battered
Women’s Shelter and Rape Crisis Center of Summit and Medina Counties) as an Education and Outreach
Advocate. Megan’s job entails recruiting and training volunteers/interns and educating the community on
sexual violence and intimate partner violence. Megan has a passion to inspire others to take a proactive
stand against human trafficking, sexual violence and intimate partner violence!
This training is ideal for HR managers, supervisors & all staff!

participants and is for current FY21 members only. Unless approved prior to the virtual meeting, nonmember registrations will be cancelled.
